Extrem BÖA A.R.S Launch Video

As ski boot technology has made recent surges forward, with the inception of the GripWalk sole system, BOA single dials and now BOA double dial boot designs, skis were starting to be left out. On a recent trip to Åre in Sweden to Extrem Skis, we were discussing double BOA on ski boots on the ski lift and I was joking with them about how soon it would be before BOA was on skis, and they just smiled at me in a somewhat sinister/knowing way. Fast forward a shrove Tuesday stop for the world’s best cake – The Swedish Semla and a coffee, and I was invited to learn about and help with the development of the Extrem BÖA A.R.S skis.

What is A.R.S?
A.R.S is Extrem’s Adjustable Rocker System. Using dial adjuster technology, the rocker of the tip of the ski can be easily adjusted to give more float, or more direct edge transfer. Using a dial system means that this can be done quickly, in order to find the best rocker tune that suits YOU and your skiing style.

One Dial or TWO Dials?
In the same way modern ski boot technology has embraced first a single BOA design, and now the double BOA system, Extrem are offering exactly the same options. The single BÖA A.R.S skis allow tuning of the tip rockers only on each ski, however double BÖA A.R.S gives you total control of your tail rocker too.

How did we get involved? The BÖA A.R.S.e App
As a complete nerd, with both a ski, bicycle design and app design background, I have not only been out in Åre testing ideas, but also been working back in the UK on the app that allows you to see in real numbers what effect your dial settings have on your skis. You can select from any of the pre-loaded Extrem BÖA A.R.S skis and enter the dial clicks into the app, and it will show you the impact – even considering the ski length – that is being transferred to the ski rocker. You can then save settings as a reminder for the optimum tune in different resorts, different conditions – even different ski runs!

The BOA ARSe App

The BÖA A.R.S.e App will be available to download for free from all the usual app stores and will evolve over time with exciting future plans about total wirelss integration with the skis!

The BÖA A.R.S is currently in final testing with local Åre ski legend Tom-Oliver Hedvall who has been instrumental in the concept and ride feel of the range.
