The servicing offered by the Skiers Lounge // Ski & Snowboard Wax is of the highest quality helping us to previously win awards for the care, attention and knowledge we put into every service we undertake, and now you can take the first steps to become a competent ski and snowboard technician, following the very same training that anyone who has worked with us here or previously at Edge & Wax wintersports.

Our training courses have been running for almost 10 years, and we have helped private technicians understand their equipment better and how to service it, through to seasonnaires who have ended up scattered around the world – some as far away as New Zealand and North America, and indeed some have never returned to the UK!

You can book to take part in part or the full course depending in your needs. We also offer limited 1-to-1 courses for individuals who want to learn more about servicing their own kit at home.

Our Group Ski & Snowboard Technician Training Courses

Here are the 3 courses we offer which can be taken as 1, 2 or 3 day courses. Those attending our 2 day and 3 day courses will receive a certificate of attendance to add to your resume if you are seeking work in the industry at home or abroad.

Day 1 – Beginners (Ideal for DIY technicians and those looking to work in resort)

An introduction to the role of a ski and snowboard technician. We go through the construction of skis and snowboards, our goals at technicians, and the tools required to work safely and productively. We walk through the 3 stages of servicing – Bases, Edges, Waxing.

For day 1 the balance is more theory with a little practical. For more practical hands on experience it is worth attending day 2 of the course.

Day 2 – Advanced (Ideal for those looking to work in resort and more advanced DIY technicians)

A more advanced step this day of our course goes through more advanced repairs work such as patch repairs and deep base gouges and edge repair. We also cover advanced use of workshop machinery to base and stone grind, and how to tune a ski or board to racing level for maximum performance.

There will then be time to practice what you have learned, overseen by the course instructor to give real time feedback on your work and how to obtain perfect results.

Day 3 – Boot fitting and Custom Insoles (Ideal for those wanting the widest introduction to maximise employment opportunities)

The course now moves from the workshop to the fitting floor and lab, where we go through the basics of foot anatomy and leg/body alignment, which will assist in sizing up of ski and snowboard boots, and dealing with common issues on the mountain whether renting boots or selling them.

We explore the equipment available to stretch, punch and grind ski boots for a perfect fit, and the various customisations available.

You will be personally measured for your feet to better understand your own needs, and the impact of boot fit on your skiing or snowboarding.

You will also be moulded for a custom insole assist in the finishing of the footbed and take it away – worth £95.00
