The Volkl V.Werks 100 Mens All Mountain Freeride skis are a revolutionary ski design to celebrate Volkl's 100+ years of making and selling skis, using the most advanced materials and construction, in a "naked" transparent design.
The V.Werks 100 is made with absolute care and precision in limited numbers with the finest ski bases, steel edges and composite materials with Volkl's legendary ski geometry to give outstanding all-mountain ski performance in all ski terrains.
Volkl Skis goal is to make the most technologically advance skis in the industry, proudly made in small batches at the Volkl Germany ski factory in Straubing.
Transparent Design
The innovative naked assembly of the ski truly allows you to look "under the hood" at the intricate details, showing the skis construction whilst also allowing the engineers to create an even more powerful skiing experience.
The transparent design allows complete freedom for the designers to lay carbon and natural fibres over the wood core, to help drive energy directly from the custom made titanal binding plate to the edges, enabling highly dynamic skiing to with the ski adapting effortlessly as power is input from the ski boots.
The ride experience is further enhanced by the lightweight nature and materials used throughout the ski.
Unique Dual Wood Core Design
Crafted with a commitment to sustainability, the core is made from FSC Certified wood, consisting of poplar and beech. The split deck of wood is joined by a central sidewall in the core of the ski acting as a spine, and the wood is 3D shaped in a milling facility at the Volkl factory and not outsourced, using state-of-the-art CNC technology.
This results in a wood core - the heart of the ski - that gives a smooth skiing experience, mitigating vibrations and shocks, which enhances edge hold on the slopes.
Tailored Fibre Placement (TFP)
A feature and leading innovation on this and many other Volkl skis is TFP, which allows the skis to be torsionally stiff in exactly the right places without the 2 wood core halves being connected in the tip (shovel) of the skis. These TFP fibres are stitched into precise places throughout the tip and through the top sheet to the tail of the skis, so the torsional rigidity of the ski can be completely tuned by the designers. For the first time, a three-dimensional mix of carbon and natural fibres has been used to give greater precision, faster response times from the shovel downwards and as a result a lively feel. The natural fibres also help to reduce CO2 in the production of the skis.
Bindings
When you buy skis from us that come without bindings, we offer free ski binding fitting worth £50 and 15% off selected bindings. To take advantage of this offer, simply add the skis in the length you require to the basket, and then click on the "Star Buys Offers" link, and you will see the offer for ski bindings. Choose the binding you require, and it will be added to the basket with the discount applied. Please note if we do not have the correct brake width showing, simply choose the closest one, and we will adjust the brake width to perfectly match your skis.
Volkl recommend only using Marker ski bindings with this ski, we would recommend the Marker Griffon 13 or Marker Jester 16.
Ski Buyers Guide
Buying a pair of skis doesn't need to be a daunting experience. When buying a pair of skis, there are a few simple pieces of information that will help you to find your perfect match. With the introduction of carving skis and new technology, ski length is based more on the user’s weight than the tradition of using your height. Combine this with your ski level and your aspirations and this will help narrow your choice very quickly. Follow these simple steps:
STEP 1 - ABILITY
Firstly choose your current skiing level from the list below:
1 - Never skied before
2 - I can stop with a snowplough
3 - I am doing snowplough turns, and the odd blue run
4 - I am starting to parallel ski and onto blue runs
5 - I am venturing onto reds, and starting to make step turns
6 - I am getting confident on reds, and maybe doing the odd black
7 - I am comfortable skiing most black runs
8 - I am confortable on ice, and venturing off-piste
9 - I am skiing off-piste aggresively, and carving across all pistes
10 - I am a professional experienced ski instructor or racer
Here at The Skiers Lounge we then brake this down into 4 groups:
- NOVICE (Level 1 to 4)
- INTERMEDIATE (Level 4-6)
- ADVANCED (Level 6-8)
- EXPERT (Level 8-9)
- PROFESSIONAL (Level 10)
STEP 2 - TERRAINNow you know your skier level, you can decide where you will mainly be using your new skis:
- - Groomed Piste Runs
- - All snow conditions (From ice to slush)
- - All mountain skiing conditions (piste and off-piste)
- - Off-piste skiing (powder)
- - Ski touring
STEP 3 - SKI LENGTH
For selecting the correct ski length, we take your ability, weight and where you will use the skis, and can calculate an approximate length:
STEP 3 - FINAL ADJUSTMENT FOR SKILL LEVELThe final calculation- For
NOVICE skiers, this is your recommended length. For
INTERMEDIATE and
ADVANCED skiers we recommend adding 5cm to the above measurement, and for
EXPERT and
PROFESSIONAL skiers you would normally add 10cm to the above length and a little more for freeride skis.
